Aidan McGuigan graduated from RMIT University in Melbourne in 1997. Since then he has gained much experience and knowledge working both as a longer term associate and short term locum rurally and city practices including Melbourne and Brisbane. He has also spent time working internationally.

Aidan is an active member of the Chiropractors’ Association of Australia (CAA) and has been so for the last 19 years, and has previously acted as secretary and a media spokesperson for the organisation. He is an executive board member of the Australian College of Chiropractic Paediatrics (ACCP), and a member of the Australian Society for Performing Arts Healthcare (ASPAH).

Committed to fulfilling professional development requirements and staying innovative within a dynamic industry, Aidan regularly attends conferences and researches evidence on chiropractic paediatrics, neurology, sports therapy, chiropractic techniques and management.  In 2014, Aidan also completed his 2 year post graduate Diplomate in Chiropractic Paediatrics – one of a small group in Australia to do so.

Aidan enjoys working alongside a variety of healthcare professionals to support patient care and treatments. He co-manages with Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, GP’s, Massage Therapists and Acupuncturists, Personal Trainers, Exercise Physiologists, Dentists, Mid-Wives and Medical Specialists. At Yeronga Chiropractic Aidan covers treatments that are partly or fully covered by private health funds, Work Cover, DVA and CDM (GP referral).

Working with individuals from all walks of life, Aidan understands the importance of adapting his techniques to suit individual patient requirements. He utilises the manual techniques of Diversified, Gonstead and the Drop-piece table, and the lower force techniques of Sacro-Occipital Technique and Activator. Adopting a multimodal approach to treating patients, Aidan also incorporates muscle therapy and stretch, strengthening rehabilitative exercises as part of his management plan. Passionate about treating individuals of all age groups, Aidan frequently sees patients from infancy (and women who are going through pregnancy), through to the elderly and retired.

Working in Yeronga since 2012, and now within his own clinic since 2014, Aidan is dedicated to helping patients to live a pain-free, active and happy lifestyle.

Abi Hellowell

Speech Pathologist

B.Sp.Path,  Honours (Class II)

Abi Hellowell is the director of Learning Tree Speech Pathology. She graduated from the University of Newcastle in 1999 and has over 16 years’ experience as a paediatric speech pathologist, with a special interest in pre-school speech, language and emergent literacy development. Abi is passionate about ensuring children have the foundational skills required for them to reach their full communication potential and recognises the importance of fun and play in the treatment process. Abi has worked in mainstream, special school and pre-school settings in QLD, the UK and Canada. She has also had experience working in a large team of private therapists, including Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and Physiotherapists, before starting her own practice. She is trained in the SSP Literacy Approach, the Read and Grow Emergent Literacy Program and is a Hanen trained speech pathologist qualified to lead It Takes Two to Talk.

Abi works with children experiencing a range of communication difficulties. We know that children begin learning communication skills from the moment they are born and as they are lifelong skills, important not only for interacting face to face with others but also for accessing the curriculum through the school years and successfully participating in the work environment later in life, early intervention when there is a breakdown is vital. Early treatment can alleviate the secondary impacts of communication difficulties such as social withdrawal and frustration.

In all areas of treatment, you as the parent and caregiver, are the key agent of change for your child. This means that the role of the therapist is to give parents the necessary skills for them to carry out treatment in the child’s natural environment and research has shown this leads to better outcomes for children.

Dr Jay (Jacinta) Bull

Acupuncturist & Chinese Medicine Practitioner

BHSc Acupuncture, Dip An Mo Tui Na (Chinese Remedial Massage Therapy), Dip Aromatherapy, Cert IV Massage Therapy, Cert IV Training & Assessment

Jay is an experienced massage therapist and acupuncturist, based at our clinic in Yeronga, on Brisbane’s inner southside. For bookings, please call (07) 3892 1440.

Jay’s passion for medicine and healing was sparked by prolonged episodes of debilitating illness in her teens and young adulthood. The journey back to wellness drew her into a “new” world of dietary changes, reflexology, acupuncture, massage, reiki, nutritional medicine, herbs, yoga and qigong…

Inspired by her new-found knowledge about the human body, Jay commenced formally studying health in 2001. Since graduating her acupuncture degree, she’s focused a large portion of her ongoing professional education on advancing her skillset for treating musculoskeletal, digestive and mental health conditions in people of all ages.

The thing Jay loves most about Chinese medicine is the way it looks at the full picture of a person; rather than simply a single disease or process. No two people’s pain, illness or experiences are identical. Some people simply want assistance in maintaining wellness. This is why your treatment plan will be formulated to address your specific needs and re-evaluated at each appointment to reflect your progression.

Jay combines her gentle style of Chinese acupuncture with remedial massage, trigger point needling (referred to by many practitioners as dry needling), stretching, remedial exercises, cupping, liniments, guasha, moxibustion (moxa), diet and lifestyle advice as appropriate.

In addition to clinical practice, Jay has greatly enjoyed teaching tuina (Chinese medicinal massage) and working with colleagues to run a mentorship programme for Australian tuina students and practitioners.

Member of the Australian Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA), the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS) & the Australian Society for Performing Arts Healthcare (ASPAH)
