Simple Ways to Practice Self-Care Every Day

Simple Ways to Practice Self-Care Every Day

  1. Listen to your body

The first step in practicing self-care is learning to listen to your body. Pay attention to when you feel a slight niggle in your back or when a headache might start to come on. This will help you get on top of it quickly and get back to your best sooner.

  1. Prioritise getting enough sleep

We know how important sleep in for our health but many of us choose to ignore the fact that we need 8 hours and opt for Netflix instead…

Lets change that habit together! Put down the phone an hour before you plan on sleeping and take some time to read, crochet, meditate or whatever your vibe is! TIP: put your phone on charge across the room or in your ensuite if you have one so you wont be tempted to pick it back up!

  1. Nourish your body

Food is a form of self-care! Create a balanced lifestyle where you can enjoy delicious nutritious foods to help you feel great. Take it back to basics by adding whole foods (raw vegetables, fruits, proteins and whole grains) to your meals, making it from scratch means you know what is in it! Planning and making meals ahead to freeze can take the stress out of what to prepare each day. Slow cooked meats with roasted vegetables or a salad, soups or a bolognaise packed with extra vegetables can all be made in advance.

  1. Exercise Regularly

Exercise is a crucial element of self-care, for the mind and the body. Moving your body regularly has shown a number of benefits for mental health, joint and muscle health, digestive health and more. Start by walking 30 minutes a couple of times a week, then increase to longer periods more frequently. Attend a yoga or Pilates class, play some sports in the park or do whatever works for you!

  1. Be consistent

Consistency is key. Change does not happen in a day or even a week. To create change, start implementing these habits 3 times a week and build up to everyday, then to a point where you don’t think about but its just a healthy habit and a non-negotiable in your day.
